Immersion Conference

Attention German Immersion Language Education Professionals!

Conference Dates: May 30th (9-5 pm) & May 31st (9-12 pm)
We are excited to invite you to the first German Immersion Education Conference, “Zusammen wachsen,” taking place May 30–31, 2025, at the Germanic-American Institute in St. Paul, MN.

Our goal is to provide a platform for developing curricula and resources that empower German immersion teachers, enhance teaching skills, and foster best practices. Together, we will explore strategies to promote German language learning and gain valuable insights into contemporary German culture. This conference (program here) is organized in cooperation with the Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen (ZfA) and co-hosted by the Goethe-Institut, GEM (German Educational Multiplier Network), and the AATG (American Association of Teachers of German).

  • The cost for participation in this conference is $100 and includes an exclusive opportunity to tour the Twin Cities German Immersion School, a leader in German immersion education. Register and submit payment here.
  • Deadline to sign up for the conference is April 15, 2025.
Please also keep in mind that the AATG has the new Metzler-Mews Conference Travel Grant for German teachers who do not get reimbursed by their institution.  The application deadline for this grant has passed. Keep this in mind for next years conference.
This conference is being organized by Dr. Katrin Erdmann of the GAI and Kathrin Gillhoff of ZfA.
